The TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) is a standardized English language test that assesses your English language skills in four areas: Reading, Writing, Listening, and Speaking. It is widely accepted by universities and institutions around the world.

The TOEFL test is available in two formats: Internet-Based Test (iBT) and Paper-Based Test (PBT). The iBT is the most common format and is accepted by most institutions. The TOEFL test is scored on a scale of 0-30 for each section and an overall score of 0-120.

Test of English as a Foreign Language

1. Reading:

  • Duration: 60 minutes
  • Format: 3-4 passages

2. Writing:

  • Duration: 50 minutes
  • Format: 2 tasks

3. Listening:

  • Duration: 60-80 minutes
  • Format: 4-6 lectures and conversations

4. Speaking:

  • Duration: 20 minutes
  • Format: 4 tasks

    • You must express your opinion and support it with reasons and examples

Speaking

  • Task 1: Independent Speaking (45 seconds)
    • You must speak about a personal experience
  • Task 2: Integrated Speaking (1 minute)
    • You must listen to a short lecture or conversation and answer a question about it
  • Task 3: Independent Speaking (1 minute)
    • You must choose between two opinions on a given topic and explain your choice
  • Task 4: Integrated Speaking (3 minutes)
    • You must read a short passage and then listen to a lecture on the same topic
    • You must summarize the key points of the reading and lecture and compare and contrast them
